MY STORY

“My paintings create space to slow down and feel. Through portraits and nature-inspired scenes, I explore emotion, light, and quiet moments that invite reflection.”
Jani Rossouw is a contemporary oil painter whose work explores the quiet relationship between people, place, and emotion. Trained as an engineer, she brings a unique balance of structure and intuition to her painting practice, blending technical precision with expressive, atmospheric storytelling.
Raised in a family immersed in the arts, Jani was introduced to drawing and painting at a young age by her grandmother, a fine art teacher. Influences from pottery, film, and photography shaped her sensitivity to form, light, and composition, elements that continue to define her work today. Drawn primarily to portraiture and natural landscapes, she paints subjects that resonate on a personal level rather than following trends, allowing authenticity to guide each piece.
Working primarily during evenings and weekends alongside her engineering career, Jani’s paintings reflect a dialogue between analytical thinking and creative exploration. Her work invites viewers to pause, feel, and connect. Offering moments of stillness and presence within a fast-moving world.
